Space Chronicles

This project was inspired by a trip to the Tate Modern with the discovery of Dora Maurer's Space paintings.

The appeal of aliens and space travel combined with Maurer's abstract, geometric and vibrant pieces were the starting point of this project.

The idea was to examine the unknown, and as humans how we have so much yet to discover, this was the main research route.

Within the development of ideas Latoya experimented with different surfaces such as crushed fabrics, water, bubbles, ice and salt with inks, rubber stamping for different textures, all techniques that were accessible at home.

The fashion collection draws upon the 1960's era of space travel using streamlined cyber inspired silhouettes.
