UAL Level 3

Film & VFX

What will I study?

This course focuses on practical activities, offering you the opportunity to study and develop skills in the processes involved in organising and being part of music performances, developing as an artist, music theory, composition and singing. You will be encouraged to learn additional instruments to your first study instrument and perform in College and at venues in Camden and across London.

Although the emphasis is on practical assignments, you will need to complete written assessments in the form of evaluative blogs and rehearsal diaries and contextual and business studies. Students must be able to perform. Many of your teachers are professional musicians, which gives the course a real work focus. During your course you will be engaging in activities aimed at giving you an insight into working in the industry.

What are the additional entry requirements for this course?

Four GCSEs at grade D or above or equivalent Level 1 qualification with Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 1 and a good reference. You may need to do a short English and Maths test to gauge your level. You will need to demonstrate a keen interest in music and attend an interview and audition.

"No one day is ever the same! We are currently doing an advertising campaign and we have to work on every aspect of it, from the script to producing the music. I am surprised at how much equipment the College had to help us film and edit the advert.

The best thing for me as well is that we have the opportunity to sample other courses like music production, even though that isn’t what we are studying. I can’t wait to see our finished product!"
